Occupational therapy (OT) is a healthcare profession that helps people of all ages participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations). OT practitioners work with individuals, groups, and families to promote health, prevent injury, and restore function and participation in meaningful occupations across the lifespan.

OT services can be provided in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, schools, and community-based programs. OT practitioners use a variety of interventions, including:

Assessment and evaluation of functional skills
Development of treatment plans
Provision of direct therapy services
Education and training of clients and caregivers
Advocacy for clients and their families
OT services can be used to address a wide range of conditions and disabilities, including:

Acquired brain injury
Autism spectrum disorder
Cerebral palsy
Developmental delays
Disability

Falls
Hand injuries
Mental health conditions

Hi, I’m Deanna Marr, occupational therapist and owner of Restorative Solutions. I’ve been an OT for 23 years working with kids up to older adults. My love for OT is rooted in helping people. Helping people get back what was taken from them in an accident, surgery or medical diagnosis. I love hands on therapy with my orthopedic, pain and pelvic health clients.
